RCMP operation focused on Bilijk man
Mounties report that alert to avoid Kingsclear First Nation on Tuesday afternoon was in response to allegation that Clifford Sacobie, 27, pointed firearm at someone then fled
The Keswick detachment of the RCMP directed people to stay from the Bilijk (Kingsclear) First Nation on Tuesday afternoon because of a report that a wanted man had brandished a firearm, the force says.
The RCMP issued an advisory through social media at about 3 p.m. Tuesday, indicating officers were conducting a police operation on Kingsclear Avenue on the Bilijk First Nation.
It asked people to avoid the area.
The Keswick detachment then announced shortly before 4 p.m. that the operation had concluded.
The force subsequently issued a news release, indicating it was seeking tips from the public on the whereabouts of a suspect wanted in connection with the incident and other criminal investigations.
“On July 29, 2025, at approximately 2:30 p.m., the Keswick RCMP responded to a report of a man who had pointed a firearm at another individual and then fled the scene,” it said, noting police viewed it as an isolated incident and posted no risk to the general public.
“Police are still trying to locate 27-year-old Clifford Sacobie of Kingsclear First Nation.”
The Fredericton Police Force issued a similar public plea for tips on his location July 3, indicating Sacobie was “wanted on numerous warrants.”
The city police said he’s described as being about 5’11’ tall, weighing about 160 pounds, with brown eyes and hair.
Anyone who’s seen Sacobie or has information on his whereabouts is urged to call the Keswick RCMP detachment at 506-357-4300 or the Fredericton Police Force at 506-460-2300.
