Fredericton provincial court Judge Kenneth Oliver is retiring, meaning Judicial Council hearing set for next week to deal with instance of misconduct won’t happen
So I I get charged with impaired and I promise to quit drinking does the judicial proceeding against me end too. This should of continued if for no other reason then for him to be stripped of his judgeship for the encouragement of others and to show that this will not be tolerated by the judicial branch
This seems to happen too often in Canada — the jurisdiction of judicial councils should be extended to include retired judges, on matters that occurred prior to retirement.
What about all the people that he judged and forced to be held accountable for their actions but yet he doesn’t have to and there’s no legal recourse punishment he’s above the law just because he wears a black robe ? In the interest of Justice and public safety, it should be reopened !! How many other people he judged unfairly !
Seems to be the way things go they retire before the date of the hearing. Number of police officers did the same. Saint John and KV
Who is surprised? Really? No real justice.
