Man gets time served for striking girlfriend
Martin Robert Tyc, 37, of Fredericton, punched girlfriend as they argued in moving vehicle
A Fredericton man who went too far to fend off his girlfriend’s kicks while they drove around the capital last fall has served enough time in jail already, a judge ruled Tuesday.
Martin Robert Tyc, 37, of Union Street, appeared in Fredericton provincial court in custody and in person for sentencing Tuesday on several charges, including one instance of intimate-partner violence.
He was found guilty after trial of assault causing bodily harm to Sandra Andrade on Oct. 27.
Tyc had also pleaded guilty to a related charge of driving while prohibited by a court order, as well as to Nov. 17 offences of obstruction of justice and possession of a weapon (bear spray) for a purpose dangerous to the public peace, and a Jan. 22 breach of a judicial release order.
