Bullshit. There's no aspect of the criminal-justice system that adopts a philosophy of an eye for an eye. It's barbaric. And it doesn't work. Studies have shown capital punishment doesn't curb murder rates, doesn't deter others.
The system can't operate out of an emotional place. It has to be dispassionate. That still leaves room for denunciation, for sympathy for victims, but it can't be the driving force.
That is just so tragic. A true case of animal abuse. Let us hope, FOR ONCE, that justice is done on behalf of these poor animals.
