Former Fredericton man sought on warrant
Vincent John Ryan Currie, 42, was on statutory release while serving federal-prison sentence for robbing drug addict of his pickup truck in 2018 by threatening to cut off his fingers
The Saint John Police Force issued an advisory Friday that a former Fredericton resident previously sentenced to federal prison time for a 2018 robbery is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant.
The port city police issued a news release Friday reporting that it was seeking the public’s help in locating Vincent John Ryan Currie, 42.
“On June 27, 2024, a warrant was issued for breaching the conditions of his statutory release,” the release said.
“It is alleged that he was in possession of and consumed a controlled substance.”
It said Currie remains subject to a prison term of almost six years and eight months for convictions for robbery, breaches of probation, possession of stolen property and firearms crimes.
Currie is originally from the Fredericton area, and the convictions to which the release refers stem mainly from two incidents in the capital in 2018.
One was a robbery incident in which the offender stole a pickup truck from an addict to whom he was selling drugs by using a set of bolt cutters to threaten to cut off the victim’s fingers.
Another was from a high-risk police takedown of a vehicle in which he was an occupant in which a firearm and drugs were found.

Currie is described as being 5’8” tall, weighing about 200 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes.
“He has a tribal tattoo on his right calf and a ‘Nicole’ tattoo on his right upper arm,” the release said. “Police are warning the public to not approach the suspect.”
