UPDATED: Police urge driver who struck child to come forward
Girl riding bicycle was struck by vehicle in front of Brookside Mall on Thursday afternoon, reports Fredericton Police Force
The Fredericton Police Force is calling on a motorist whose larger vehicle hit a child on the city’s north side Thursday afternoon to contact police about the incident.
“On July 13, 2023, at approximately 4 p.m., a grey pickup truck or SUV proceeded out of the Brookside Mall onto Brookside Drive,” the police force wrote in a post to social media.
“The vehicle came into contact with a young child driving her bicycle.”
The initial investigation indicates the male driver, got out of his vehicle and checked on the girl to see if she was all right, the advisory stated.
“However, the driver then left, and the young child was treated at scene by Ambulance NB [for a] minor injury,” it said.
Fredericton police are calling on the driver in question to contact them about the accident.
