City man denies sex crimes against minors
Joshua Gorman, 37, of Fredericton, stands accused of abusing one child between 2020-22, and of sexually assaulting another underage complainant earlier this year
A Fredericton man facing 12 sex-related offences alleging abuse of two different underage complainants has denied the charges against him.
Joshua Gorman, 37, of Dora Drive, appeared with defence lawyer T.J. Burke in Fredericton provincial court Tuesday to answer to 12 counts alleging indictable sex crimes against two children.
Burke said his client was electing to be tried in provincial court and pleads not guilty to all charges.
The first set of charges - 10 in all - allege events in the capital region against one complainant. Those are as follows:
- sexual assault, sexual touching and invitation to sexual touching between May 1 and June 30, 2020, at Scotch Lake;
- sexual assault and sexual touching between June 1 and Aug. 31, 2021; at Mactaquac;
- sexual assault and sexual touching between Dec. 21, 2021, and July 14, 2022, at Scotch Lake;
- and sexual assault, sexual touching and invitation to sexual touching between Aug. 1 and Aug. 31 at Upper Kingsclear.
The final two charges allege he sexually assaulted another minor and touched that second complainant for a sexual purpose April 15 in Fredericton.
Judge Lucie Mathurin set the case over to Aug. 8 to schedule trial dates.
