Youths delay Tannery manslaughter election
Defence counsel for teenage defendants request adjournments to obtain Crown disclosure
Lawyers for three teenage boys accused of killing a man in downtown Fredericton in September told a court Wednesday they’re still waiting on full disclosure of the Crown files.
The three youths - two boys from the Fredericton area, ages 16 and 17; and another 17-year-old from the Woodstock area - appeared in Fredericton youth court Wednesday afternoon to answer to a joint charge of manslaughter.
They’re accused of causing the death of André Bourgeois, 41, of Grande-Digue, on Sept. 22, by assaulting him in the Tannery, an open-air, public space in Fredericton’s downtown bar district.
Lawyers Alex Pate and Angèle Normand, appeared as defence counsel for the two Fredericton teenagers, and Pate was acting as an agent for lawyer T.J. Burke, who represents the youth from the Woodstock area.
