A teenage boy accused of flying the coop from the province’s youth jail last month decided to forgo his right to a bail hearing Monday, and will return to court later this week to enter pleas.

The 16-year-old Geary boy - whose identity is protected by the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act - appeared in Fredericton youth court Monday in custody by video conference from the Miramichi Youth Campus, scheduled to go through a bail hearing.

He was arrested Thursday night and charged with fleeing from police, driving dangerously and possessing a stolen 2024 Nissan Kicks belonging to Ashley Matthews, all alleged to have occurred that same day.
