Missing Young’s Cove man found dead - RCMP
Disappearance of Gerald Kelly, 63, in early February reported to Sussex detachment Friday
A Young’s Cove man who was reported as missing to police Friday after not being seen for weeks has been found dead, the RCMP reports.
The Sussex detachment of the RCMP issued a news release Saturday, seeking tips from the public on the whereabouts of Gerald Kelly, 63, of Young’s Cove, located about 80 kilometres east of Fredericton and 50 kilometres west of Sussex.
“Gerald Kelly was last seen during the first week of February 2025, at a residence on Route 10 in Young’s Cove. He was reported missing to police on Feb. 28,” the release said.
“Police have followed up on several leads to try and locate him, but have so far been unsuccessful. Police and his family are concerned for his well-being.”
However, in an update posted Sunday afternoon, the Mounties advised Kelly’s body had been found.
“The 63-year-old man from Young’s Cove, N.B., who was reported missing to police on Feb. 28, 2025, has been located deceased by members of the Sussex RCMP detachment, the RCMP police dog services Unit and with the assistance of the Coles Island Fire Department,” the RCMP said on social media Sunday.
“Our thoughts are with the man's family, friends and community at this time.”
The updated advisory gave no indication of the man’s cause of death or if foul play was suspected.
