Would-be killer’s ‘risks no longer manageable’
Parole board revokes statutory release for Benjamin Darren Nason, 49, after hearing that he abused prescription drugs, engaged in unauthorized relationships with women in Moncton

A man who tried to kill a woman in Fredericton a decade ago misled corrections officials on his whereabouts and relationships with women, prompting the Parole Board of Canada to revoke his statutory release from prison.
Benjamin Darren Nason, 49, formerly of Beaver Dam, was granted statutory release from Dorchester Penitentiary on July 5 ahead of the expiry of his 15-year sentence, but he remained under the purview of Correctional Service Canada (CSC).

That meant he was subject to strict conditions, but his statutory release was suspended and he was arrested in March on allegations of violating those conditions.
The Parole Board of Canada convened a hearing at Springhill Institution in Nova Scotia on Wednesday to determine if his statutory release would be revoked or if the suspension would be lifted to allow him back into the community.
