Woman had twice legal limit in system
Aliyah Sparkes-Polches, 22, pleaded guilty to impaired-driving offence, committed in May
A Fredericton woman found at the wheel with more than double the legal limit of alcohol in her system has been barred from driving for the next year.
Aliyah Sparkes-Polches, 22, of Paul Street, made her first appearance in Fredericton provincial court Tuesday to answer to an allegation of impaired driving.
At this first opportunity, she pleaded guilty to having an elevated blood-alcohol level within two hours of driving.
Crown prosecutor Christopher Lavigne said the case arose as a result of an encounter with police in the early-morning hours of May 20.
