Welamukotuk chief faces criminal charges
Shelley Sabattis, family members accused of break-in, assaults in wake of sister’s murder
The chief of Welamukotuk (Oromocto) First Nation, along with members of her family, is set to appear in provincial court next week to answer to allegations of committing a violent home invasion.
The RCMP laid a joint criminal information in Fredericton provincial court against nine people - including Welamukotuk Chief Shelley Marie Sabattis, 56, of Wel-a-Mook-Took Street in Oromocto - and they’re scheduled to make their first appearances on the charges Sept. 11.
