The man arrested after a standoff with police early Saturday that triggered an alert for Barker’s Point residents to shelter in place was released on conditions Tuesday.

Rene Michael Gerard, 49, of Fredericton, appeared in Fredericton provincial court by video from the Saint John Regional Correctional Centre on Tuesday, scheduled to go through a bail hearing.

He faced charges alleging he caused damage to a patio door and window belonging to Diana Stewart and that he threatened to cause death and/or bodily harm to Fredericton Police Force officers.

The charges allege offences in Fredericton on Saturday.
