Warrant out for woman accused of killing horses
Charlotte H. Bright, 76, of Currieburg, is scheduled to stand trial this summer on charges of harming, neglecting animals, but she was a no-show for a pre-trial conference Wednesday
A Currieburg woman accused of harming animals after the carcasses of 14 horses were found on her property last year was nowhere to be seen when her case was called in court Wednesday.
Charlotte H. Bright, 76, of Currieburg Road, located a few kilometres west of Stanley, is scheduled to stand trial before a Court of King’s Bench judge without a jury for three days beginning June 17.
She’s accused of killing, maiming, wounding or otherwise injuring horses belonging to her; neglecting those animals by failing to provide them with adequate food, water, shelter and care; and causing the horses unnecessary pain or suffering.
The New Brunswick SPCA charges allege offences committed in Currieburg between Feb. 1 and April 8, 2023.
