Warrant out for Tobique First Nation man
Austin Caplin-Aubin, 28, sought on charges of assault with weapon, resisting arrest
The Western Valley regional detachment of the RCMP is looking for a Tobique First Nation man on an outstanding warrant on charges of violence, and it’s hoping the public can provide some information..
The Mounties issued a news release Friday evening, stating that Austin Caplin-Aubin, 28, of Tobique First Nation, is wanted on a warrant of arrest.
The warrant stems from various charges, including domestic assault with a weapon, assault, resisting arrest and failure to attend court, it said.
“On July 19, 2024, at approximately 3 p.m., police attempted to pull over a vehicle in the community. The driver, 28-year-old Austin Caplin-Aubin, fled the area. Police did not pursue the vehicle,” the release said.
“Shortly after, the vehicle was located abandoned at a nearby residence. Police believe that Austin Caplin-Aubin has fled the scene on foot.”
Caplin-Aubin is described as being about 5’9” inches (174 centimetres) tall, weighing about 190 pounds (86 kilograms), with black hair and brown eyes.
“He is well known to police and is considered violent,” the RCMP said. “If you see Austin Caplin-Aubin, please do not approach and call 911 immediately.”
Anyone with information on the suspect’s whereabouts is urged to call the Western Valley region detachment of the RCMP at 506-325-3000.
