Warrant issued for sex-crime suspect
Robert Quondam, 51, of Fredericton, is believed to be outside the jurisdiction or evading police service on counts of sexual assault, assault causing bodily harm
A judge issued an arrest warrant Friday for a Fredericton man accused of sexual assaulting and seriously injuring a complainant last month.
Crown prosecutor Rodney Jordan asked provincial court Judge Cameron Gunn on Friday to issue a warrant for the arrest of Robert Quondam, 51, of Union Street.
The Fredericton Police Force laid two charges against Quondam on Friday: one alleging he sexually assaulted an unnamed individual April 8, and another that he assaulted that same person and thereby caused them bodily harm the same day.
Jordan noted a police affidavit was also filed with the court, detailing that officers haven’t been able to serve Quondam with a notice to appear in court because he’s either avoided service or is outside the jurisdiction.
That’s why the Crown was seeking an arrest warrant in the first instance, he said.
Gunn issued the requested warrant.
The court file indicated that as recently as Monday morning, that warrant had yet to be executed, meaning Quondam is still at large.
