Another sentencing hearing had to be delayed in Fredericton court this week because victim-impact statements weren’t sought by the government branch responsible for doing so.

J.P.M. Construction Inc., based in Drummond, about 200 kilometres north of Fredericton, was scheduled for sentencing in Fredericton provincial court Tuesday.

Its owner, Jean-Paul Moreau, pleaded guilty last month to a WorkSafe New Brunswick charge under the provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act for failing to provide a fall-protection system on a Fredericton jobsite Oct. 12, 2023, and to ensure the continuous use of such a safety system.

Moreau was back in Fredericton court with defence lawyer Dawson Harrison on Tuesday, but prosecutor Kyle Horsman said the Crown was seeking to adjourn the sentencing.
