The province’s victim-services branch left another request for a victim-impact statement to the last minute, forcing another postponement of a sentencing hearing - this time for a prominent arson case.

Cole Christopher Harris, 29, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty earlier this year to counts of arson and probation violation, stemming from a dramatic fire the afternoon of March 12 in Fredericton’s downtown Garrison District.

He torched the Militia Arms Storehouse on Carleton Street, which was owned by the Department of National Defence but occupied by the staff of Tourism Fredericton.

Harris appeared by telephone in Fredericton provincial court Wednesday morning, scheduled for a sentencing hearing, but Crown prosecutor Darlene Blunston instead asked for an adjournment.
