Used-car salesman’s fraud case adjourned

A Doaktown man accused of fleecing more than two dozen complainants of money and vehicles made his initial appearance in court this week on a long list of fraud charges.
Brent Hayward Stewart, 49, of Hazelton Road, represented himself Tuesday for his first appearance in Fredericton provincial court on 27 indictable charges - mostly alleged frauds.
The New Brunswick RCMP’s financial crimes unit announced the charges in a news release issued last week. That release identified Stewart as being from Burton, but the court file indicates his residence is in Doaktown.
The RCMP reported the investigation and charges arose after police received complaints about transactions at DMR Auto Sales, located in what was previously known as Richibucto Road (also Pepper Creek), which has since been amalgamated into Fredericton.
