Used-car fraud trial set for 2026

A Doaktown man will stand before a judge and jury on 26 counts of fraud and one of theft stemming from his job in used-car sales, but his day in court won’t come for a year and a half.
Brent Hayward Stewart, 50, of Hazelton Road, appeared before Court of King’s Bench Justice Richard Petrie at the Burton Courthouse on Monday for motions day.
He’d previously elected to be tried in superior court on 27 indictable charges - 26 of fraud and one of theft.
The RCMP charges that while working as a salesman at DMR Auto Sales in Pepper Creek on Fredericton’s north side between 2020 and 2021, he defrauded customers and stole from his employer.
