Two suspects accused of armed robbery, home invasion
Jacob Gautreau, 25, and Gabriel Green, 33, have been remanded after being charged with violent break-in at Oromocto First Nation
Two capital-region residents accused of breaking into a Welomukotuk (Oromocto) First Nation home and trying to rob the occupant were locked up Monday pending bail hearings set for later this week.
Jacob Gautreau, 25, of Canterbury Drive in Fredericton; and Gabriel Green, 33, of Hiawatha Court in Oromocto; appeared by phone in Fredericton provincial court Monday morning from the RCMP detachment in Oromocto.
Both were charged with breaking into the Hiawatha Avenue home of Mitchell Vienneau-Polchies on Sunday, attempting to rob Vienneau-Polchies of a sum of cash while armed with weapons, and assaulting him with those weapons.
Green’s charges allege he brandished a crowbar, while Gautreau’s counts refer to a knife.
Green protested the charges during his brief telephone court appearance Monday.
“I didn’t enter, and I didn’t assault,” he said. “This is all on camera.”
Crown prosecutor Patricia Gillett objected to the pair’s release, and Judge Lucie Mathurin remanded them pending bail hearings, scheduled for Thursday.
