Man arrested, remanded after Friday evening incident at liquor store on York Street
A man is in custody and facing charges after a violent incident in downtown Fredericton on Friday evening that sent two retail workers to hospital, reports the city police force.
“On Friday June 7, at approximately 7:05 p.m., members of the Fredericton Police Force's primary response team, the forensic identification unit and the N.B. RCMP K-9 unit responded to a serious weapons complaint at a southside establishment,” Fredericton Police Force spokesperson Sonya Gilks wrote in an email to the Fredericton Independent.

“A patron caused a disturbance and subsequently assaulted two staff members with a weapon.”
She didn’t name the suspect but she later confirmed the incident occurred at the NB Liquor outlet in the York Street Train Station complex downtown.
“Two victims were taken to the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital for treatment. The extent of the injuries are not believed to be life threatening,” Gilks said in the email.
“The Fredericton Police Force arrested an adult male, who remains in custody with charges pending.”
The incident remains under active investigation, she said.
