Turnabout is fair play
Fredericton Independent journalist Don MacPherson is answering the questions this time
As a journalist, especially one specializing in court reporting, I’m accustomed to telling other people’s stories - those of defendants and victims, prosecutors and defence lawyers. While these tales come from my perspective, I’m trained to set aside my opinions and to offer an impartial but nevertheless human view of court cases and more.

But sometimes, it’s worthwhile for a reporter to allow himself to be the subject, and I did so this week by sitting down with Timothy Porter and Caitlin Dutt, communications professionals with Porter O’Brien who are hosting a new podcast called Soundbite NB. We discuss the mechanics of my work, the psychology of court reporting and the changing landscape of the news, among other topics.
So if you’ve been curious about the reporter behind the reports - and want to discover an engaging New Brunswick-based podcast just in its initial weeks of production - click here to check out the latest episode of Soundbite NB featuring yours truly.
