A Fredericton man who has no defence counsel on various charges - including a church break-in - was shocked to learn Tuesday that his jury trial won’t be held until early 2026.

Arthur Fernando Rocha, 55, of Woodstock Road, represented himself Tuesday at the Court of King’s Bench motions day, where his jury trial was to be scheduled and confirmed.

He’s remanded on March 16 charges of break, enter and theft at St. James Presbyterian Church in Hanwell; assault on an RCMP officer; assault on the same officer with a weapon, namely, a crowbar; resisting arrest; and possession of break-in instruments.
