Three dead after accident in Mill Cove
RCMP reports single-vehicle crash Saturday night claimed lives of two women, one man
Three young adults from Moncton are dead after a crash in Mill Cove, east of Fredericton, on Saturday night, the RCMP announced Sunday.
Officers with the Keswick and Oromocto detachments of the RCMP responded to the scene of a single-vehicle accident at about 9:35 p.m. Saturday in Mill Cove, near Cambridge-Narrows and about 70 kilometres east of Fredericton, police said in a news release Sunday.
Three passengers - two 23-year-old women and one 19-year-old man - were pronounced deceased at the scene, it said.
“The crash is believed to have occurred when the vehicle, travelling westbound, lost a tire causing the driver to lose control and left the highway,” the release said.
“The three passengers were ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene as a result of their injuries.”
The driver survived the crash and was transported to hospital with what police believe were non-life-threatening injuries.
An RCMP accident reconstructionist attended the scene, and personnel with the Jemseg Fire Department and Ambulance New Brunswick also responded.
The investigation is ongoing, the release said.
