A member of the University of New Brunswick women’s volleyball team - who was among those who filed complaints that led to their coach’s dismissal - wiped away tears as she spoke Tuesday of his abusive treatment.

Richard Schick was fired as UNB’s women’s volleyball coach in October 2023, and he subsequently filed a notice of action and statement of claim against the university for wrongful dismissal.

The trial in the civil matter got underway before Court of King’s Bench Justice Thomas Christie at the Burton Courthouse on Tuesday
