Teen murder suspect’s psych report lacking
Defence, prosecution, judge agree followup assessment at Restigouche facility necessary
A psychiatrist’s report about a Nasonworth teen accused of murder lacks clarity and a further opinion on whether the youth is fit to stand trial is needed, the defence argued Thursday.
A 17-year-old Nasonworth boy faces a charge of second-degree murder, and he was back in Fredericton youth court Thursday.
The charge alleges the teenager killed a 34-year-old man in Nasonworth, just south of Fredericton and New Maryland, on May 13.

The Youth Criminal Justice Act precludes the publication or broadcast of information that would tend to identify the accused, and due to a possible relationship between him and the victim, the Fredericton Independent isn’t naming the 34-year-old man either.
The boy was back in Fredericton youth court in custody Thursday, scheduled both to schedule a date for his bail hearing and to review the results of a forensic psychiatric assessment.
