Teen gets probation for burglary, Irving holdup
Judge reluctantly accepts sentencing recommendation from Crown and defence, noting he was bound to do so despite feeling lenient outcome may be inappropriate
A judge said a jointly recommended sentence of probation for a teenage offender who broke into a downtown home in 2022 and tried to rob a gas station last fall may be inappropriate.
Nevertheless, Judge Cameron Gunn said Friday he felt bound by the law to impose the lenient sentence.
He made the comments as he rendered his decision on sentence for a 15-year-old Bilijk (Kingsclear) First Nation boy.
