Suspended lawyer’s clients compensated
Law society pays out $1 million over misconduct complaints against solicitor Stephen Hill
The province’s legal licensing and enforcement entity has paid out almost $1 million in compensation to four clients of a Fredericton lawyer who was suspended from practice earlier this year.
The Law Society of New Brunswick issued a notice of suspension in February regarding Fredericton lawyer Stephen James Hill, who used to be a partner in the northside firm of Elliott McCrea Hill.

It gave no reason for the suspension, but Hill has made headlines in recent years over allegations in lawsuits claiming that he engaged in misconduct in his work for local entrepreneur Brian Johnson and his Hanwell businesses, Kingswood Ventures Inc. and Kingswood Hospitality Inc.
