Vincent John Ryan Currie has admitted he was unlawfully at large after violating the terms of his release from prison this summer, but a court still has to figure out if he was clueless to a police presence to arrest him.

Currie, 42, formerly of Fredericton, pleaded guilty earlier this year to a July 4 count of being unlawfully at large, but a judge nevertheless heard testimony recently in the case.

While the offender has admitted to the crime, a sentencing hearing was held earlier this month and continued Wednesday to determine the specific facts of the case as the Crown aims to prove aggravating factors for the court’s consideration.
