Police have charged someone for the blaze that damaged an historic park structure in Fredericton’s downtown area this summer.

Jesse Cole Jackson, 36, of no fixed address, appeared in Fredericton provincial court Wednesday for his initial appearance on an indictable charge of arson.

He’s accused of causing damage by fire to the gazebo in Wilmot Park on July 2.

The popular structure in the downtown park is located next to the city’s splash pad, and it burned the night of July 2.
