Editor’s note: An earlier version of this story indicated Jan. 31, 2024, charges against Campbell and another man were withdrawn. That was incorrect and was the result of a miscommunication. Those charges still stand and are scheduled to go to trial this summer. We regret the error.

A Fredericton Junction man made his initial court appearance Wednesday on an allegation he distributed an intimate image of a capital-region woman three years ago.

Troy Jason Campbell, 54, of Sunbury Drive, appeared in Fredericton provincial court Wednesday to face two new charges.

The RCMP alleges that he shared an intimate image of a woman without her consent at Lincoln between Aug. 17 and 23, 2022, and that when he did so, he violated a police undertaking to have no contact with her.

Crown prosecutor Cathleen Trafton requested a publication ban on information that would tend to identify the complainant, and Judge Lyne Raymond granted that order.
