A Nova Scotia man’s trial on allegations he sexually abused his daughter in recent years will be held at a higher level of court this fall.

A 57-year-old defendant from Dartmouth, N.S., appeared by telephone in the Court of King’s Bench at the Burton Courthouse on Tuesday for motions days.

He faces indictable charges of sexually assaulting his daughter, committing incest and touching the girl for a sexual purpose, all alleging events in the Coles Island area, east of Fredericton, between Jan. 1, 2019, and Sept. 30, 2022.

There’s a court-ordered publication ban protecting the identity of the complainant, and as such, the Fredericton Independent isn’t naming the accused so as to comply with that order.
