A Fredericton man faces charges alleging he tried to run down a city police officer with a stolen SUV and then setting it ablaze was released from custody on conditions Thursday.

He faces a variety of charges alleged to have occurred over the past year, the most serious occurred a month ago in and around the capital.

Those charges allege he possessed a stolen 2020 Ford EcoSport belonging to David Graves, assaulted city police Cpl. Shane Henderson with a weapon (that stolen SUV), fled from police in the EcoSport and drove dangerously, all in Fredericton on Sept. 9.
