Soldier admits to sex assault on U.S. base

A Canadian Forces soldier who previously denied that he’d sexually assaulted someone while on training at a U.S. military base changed his plea and admitted to the crime Tuesday.
Christopher West, 45, of Route 101 in Tracyville, pleaded not guilty in Fredericton provincial court in February to Nov. 3, 2023, charges of sexually assaulting a victim and damaging that person’s personal property.

A court-ordered publication ban precludes the dissemination of information that would tend to identify the victim.
The case is an unusual one, because the charges alleged events at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, in Twenty-Nine Palms, Calif.
