A defendant accused of slicing another man in uptown Fredericton with a utility knife three months ago has been found criminally responsible for his alleged actions, and court heard Monday that he wants to represent himself.
Colin Jaffar Rogers, 28, of Westbrook Lane in Fredericton, appeared in provincial court in person and in custody Monday for a hearing on his mental state.
He faces indictable charges of committing an aggravated assault on Joseph Godin by wounding him and endangering his life, assaulting Godin with a utility knife, assaulting Godin with intent to rob the southside Canadian Tire, possessing a machete for a purpose dangerous to the public peace, assaulting Fredericton police Const. Deana Joka and resisting Const. Matt MacMellan, all on March 20.
