Sheffield shooting suspect’s lawyer has conflict
Brandon Drew Hatchard, 36, of Perth-Andover, sees bail hearing postponed to arrange new representation because previous defence counsel also represents shotgun complainant
A Perth-Andover man accused of firing a shotgun at another man near Fredericton two years ago will have to wait to see if he’ll be sprung from custody, because he needs a new lawyer on the case.
Brandon Drew Hatchard, 36, of Riverview Street, appeared in Fredericton provincial court remotely from the Saint John Regional Correctional Centre on Monday, as he was scheduled for a bail hearing.
The RCMP charged him last week with discharging a pump-action shotgun at Colton Livingston with intent to harm him; possessing the shotgun for a purpose dangerous to the public peace; possessing it without a licence; possessing it knowing he didn’t have such a licence; and breaching a court-ordered ban from possessing weapons.
