Sexually propositioning teen girl draws jail
Judge rules Temperance Vale man’s constitutional challenge was moot because crime called for period of incarceration of greater length than mandatory-minimum sentence of 90 days
A Temperance Value man who tried to get his common-law spouse’s teen daughter to touch his penis is headed to jail, as a judge rejected the defence’s argument for a community-based sentence.
The 33-year-old Temperance Vale man appeared before Judge Natalie LeBlanc for sentencing Friday. The judge found him guilty after trial of sexual exploitation, a crime he committed in November 2021.
The victim in the case is the daughter of the offender’s former partner with whom he was living, along with her children, at the time of his offence.

There’s a court-ordered publication ban in place protecting the girl’s identity, and to comply with that order, the Fredericton Independent isn’t naming the offender either, given the connection between them.
