Sex offender laments effects of conviction
Blake Alan Brice, 38, of Fredericton, admits to violating registration order, gets house arrest
A convicted sex offender complained Wednesday that his past impedes his ability to get work and that media coverage of his cases continues to haunt him.
Blake Alan Brice, 38, of Adams Street in Fredericton, accompanied by defence lawyer Edward Derrah, attended Fredericton provincial court Wednesday, scheduled to stand trial on two charges.
He was accused of violating a court order under the Sex Offender Information Registration Act on two occasions: once by failing to report in person to the registration centre for his annual check-in Aug. 24, 2022, and again by failing to report a change of address to the registration centre June 2, 2023.
However, Derrah said his client was seeking to change his plea to guilty on the Aug. 24, 2022, charge, which Brice confirmed on the record.
