Sex offender guilty of registration breach
Jeremy Gerald Delaney, 34, of Rusagonis, changes plea Tuesday ahead of scheduled trial
A Rusagonis man set to stand trial Tuesday on a charge of failing to comply with a sex-offender registration order two years ago instead opted to admit to the crime.
Jeremy Gerald Delaney, 34, of Moore Road, changed his plea to guilty in Fredericton provincial court Tuesday to a May 1, 2022, count of violating a court order issued under the Sex Offender Information Registration Act to report in person to his local registration centre.
Defence lawyer Wanda Severns asked that a pre-sentence report on her client be prepared for the court’s consideration at sentencing.
Crown prosecutor Jennifer Cooper said Delaney was placed on the sex-offender registry July 28, 2015, for 20 years following a conviction for an indictable sex-related offence.
