Sex offender denies violating order
Charge against John Freeman Bartlett, 51, of Fredericton, alleges he failed to report as required to registration centre last year
A Fredericton man who’s subject to a sex-offender registration order denied a charge Thursday that he didn’t comply with his annual registration obligations last spring.
John Freeman Bartlett, 51, of Cliffe Street, pleaded not guilty in Fredericton provincial court Thursday to a count that he violated an order under the Sex Offender Information Registration Act by failing to report his main residence to the registration centre between April 14 and May 14, 2022.
He also denied a charge that he failed to attend court March 23.
“I’m going to hire a lawyer,” Bartlett told the court Thursday.
Judge Natalie LeBlanc scheduled his trial for Oct. 31.
