Sex offender denies breaching order
Brandon Burley McLean, 24, of Fredericton, was placed on registration order as a result of a conviction for sexual assault committed in 2019
A Fredericton man will stand trial this fall after denying an allegation he violated the terms of a sex-offender registration order last year.
Brandon “Quinn” Burley McLean, 24, of Regent Street, appeared in Fredericton provincial court Friday and pleaded not guilty to a count of failing to comply with the terms of an order issued under the Sex Offender Information Registration Act (SOIRA).
The charge alleges he didn’t report to the SOIRA registration centre as required between March 1 and April 1, 2022, for his annual check-in.
Judge Mary Jane Richards scheduled his trial for Sept. 26.
McLean became subject to the SOIRA order after he was sentenced for a summary count of sexual assault that he committed in November 2019 and to which he pleaded guilty.
The victim in that case can’t be named as their identity is protected by a court-ordered publication ban.
