Sex offender breaches conditions awaiting appeal
63-year-old Burton man, who was sentenced to five years in prison for forcing daughter to stroke his penis, was jailed Tuesday for violating terms of his release imposed by top court

A Burton man who’s appealing his conviction for sexually abusing his teenage daughter was sentenced to a short term Tuesday for breaching the terms of his temporary release.
The 63-year-old man was convicted after trial in the Court of King’s Bench in late January of sexual interference.
The victim was his teenage daughter, and since there’s a court-ordered publication ban in place protecting her identity, the Fredericton Independent isn’t identifying her father either so as to comply with the order.
The offender filed a notice of appeal with the New Brunswick Court of Appeal on Jan. 31, the same day King’s Bench Justice Thomas Christie sentenced him to five years in prison.
He had been serving that sentence at the Springhill Institution in Nova Scotia, but last month, he applied to the Court of Appeal for release pending his appeal.
