Sex-crime suspect detained on warrant
Police charged Robert Quondam, 51, of Fredericton, with sexual assault, assault causing bodily harm and alleged he was avoiding summons to appear in court
A Fredericton man facing sexual assault and assaulting causing bodily harm charges was arrested on an outstanding warrant last week and is being held pending a bail hearing.
The Fredericton Police Force counts allege Robert Quondam, 51, of Union Street, committed those offences against an unnamed complainant April 8.
Police laid the charges in Fredericton provincial court May 5, as well as an affidavit alleging officers were unable to serve Quondam with a notice to appear in court for the same day.
The affidavit alleged officers hadn’t been able to serve the suspect because he’d either been avoiding that service or was no longer in the jurisdiction.
The court issued the warrant as requested by the Crown, and he was arrested last week.
Quondam was scheduled to go through a bail hearing Monday, but it was adjourned to Thursday, and he was remanded again until that time.
