Sex-crime suspect denied bail
Robert Quondam, 51, of Fredericton, faces charges of sexual assault, assault causing bodily harm, alleged to have occurred in Fredericton in April
A Fredericton man accused of sexual assault and assault causing bodily harm will remain in custody until the case against him concludes.
Robert Quondam, 51, of Union Street, appeared in Fredericton provincial court by video from jail Thursday for a bail hearing.
He’s accused of sexually assaulting an unnamed complainant and assaulting that person, thereby causing them bodily harm, both on April 8 in Fredericton.
After hearing the evidence at the bail hearing, Judge Cameron Gunn ruled Quondam’s continued detention was justified and remanded him pending the outcome of the case against him.
The evidence presented at Thursday’s hearing and the reasons for the judge’s ruling are subject to a court-ordered publication ban until the case concludes as well.
Quondam will be back before the court to elect mode of trial and enter pleas July 6.
