Sex abuse alleged at Smythe Street Church
Former Fredericton resident Bradley Fitzgerald claims in recently filed lawsuit that youth group leader, now deceased, in 1990s engaged in sexual misconduct while he was teenager
A former Fredericton resident has filed a lawsuit against a southside church, seeking damages for alleged sexual abuse at the hands of a youth group leader in the 1990s.
Bradley Fitzgerald, formerly of Fredericton but now living in Charlottetown, filed a notice of action and statement of claim with the Court of King’s Bench in Fredericton on June 11 against the Smythe Street Church, alleging a youth group leader at the church sexually abused him between 1989 and 1993.
The lawsuit identifies the youth group leader only as John Doe and doesn’t name him as a defendant in the court action.
None of the allegations in the statement of claim has been proven in court.
