The largest employer in Nackawic is facing new allegations of workplace-safety violations along with a company it hired and a supervisor after an accident in which someone sustained chemical burns.

AV Group NB Inc., which operates a pulp mill in Nackawic and is the town’s largest employer, made its first appearance in Fredericton provincial court along with Maritime Pressureworks Ltd. to answer to Occupational Health and Safety Act charges stemming from an April 18, 2023, incident in Nackawic.

AV Group is charged with failing to ensure the health and safety of a person with access to its premises and that it failed to ensure a company it hired - Maritime Pressureworks - complied with the act as well.
