A judge sentenced a Fredericton man to five years in prison Thursday for his role in a trailer-park robbery 16 months ago and other crimes.

Jesse Michael Joe, 42, formerly of Angelview Court, pleaded guilty in the middle of his provincial court trial months ago to Dec. 2, 2022, counts of assaulting Daniel Gallant with a two-by-four, pointing a firearm at him, uttering threats and robbing Gallant of jewelry and other items while armed with a rifle.

Joe was back in Fredericton provincial court in person and in custody Thursday to hear Judge Lucie Mathurin’s decision on his sentence.

The judge said Joe’s most serious crimes stemmed from a violent incident at a residence in the Hanwell Trailer Park on the night in question.
