RCMP seeks tips on vehicle-theft ring
Mounties believe four young men have been stealing vehicles in southern, western N.B.
The RCMP in New Brunswick has been investigating a series of vehicle thefts, and it believes they’re connected, committed by a quartet of perpetrators.
In a news release Friday morning, the RCMP said it’s turning to the public for tips about a string of vehicle thefts in the Fredericton area and the surrounding region.
It said four people are suspected to be at the centre of the recent thefts, and the force is hoping tips from the public can help crack the case.
"Over the past month, there have been several reports of stolen vehicles in the southern and western parts of the province that are believed to be connected," RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Hans Ouellette said in the release.
"From the information we have, we are looking to identify and locate four young men who we believe to be responsible for these thefts."
He urged people who might have relevant information to contact their local policing agencies.
"All calls to the RCMP are important,” Ouellette said.
“Any information and tips you provide to police, no matter how small they seem, can go a long way in helping track, solve and prevent crimes."
This week alone, the RCMP has issued advisories about a stolen Audi A6 in Centreville, an electric bike in Shediac and an ATV in Millerton near Miramichi.
Those with information or who witness suspicious activity can report it anonymously through Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or by submitting it online through Secure Web Tips at www.crimenb.ca.
